Love Letters to Marie…

Love letters to Marie… is a solo show which is a compilation of letters I have written to my ancestor ‘Marie Callihoo’. I have written these letters over the course of 6 years, with a series of letters written on September 9th of each year. These letters document big moments and small wonderings over the course of 2019 until now. The letters can be organized in many different ways, the show can also be of varying lengths.

Underscored by Kathleen Nisbet with projections of all the people, places and more than human relatives this show transports audiences through many different love stories.

September 5th, 2019 Dear Marie,

My name is Tai Amy Grauman and I am your great great great granddaughter. I’m pretty sure you know me, but just In case you don’t, my name’s Tai. I’m from your daughter Isabelle. She had my great grandmother, her name was Lillian but I know her as Milly. Then Milly had my grandmother Delphine, who had my father, who had me.

I’m 24 now and today I’m home in the plains sitting on my parent’s farm watching summer slowly turn into fall. Crazy how time works isn’t it?
